Charity. It is a word that can and does evoke a broad range of emotions, many of them negative. That unfortunate truth masks the real reason we are charitable: it makes us good neighbors.
Here along the western banks of Lake Erie we have a proud history of being neighborly. We have always been sensitive to and reached out to those who, for what ever reason, are in need.
From pandemics to blizzards, flooding to algae blooms, even unemployment and strikes, our friends and neighbors help. That is what makes this a great place to live.
I have found that among it other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.

Local Liberty
Nothing is more local, more immediate, and more impactful than supporting local service and assistance organizations. These dedicated and over taxed groups of volunteers and staff are providing food, clothing, shelter, medical assistance, counseling, even pet rescue right in our back yards.
Although there is nothing wrong with national and international charities, our local coterie of selfless soldiers are taking care of the problems right in front of us. They provide a liberty from want and fear to those in need that is immediate and necessary. Nothing…absolutely nothing…is more local.
Listed below is a group of local assistance organizations that need our support. With all that is happening in our world, please consider all work that they do and support them financially. Their exhaustive efforts ensures that our community is not only a great place to work and live but a caring and loving place as well.
